Arthur Tyndall established the practice in 1969. Noel Hanham became a partner in 1978 and one year later the practice was incorporated to form Tyndall and Hanham Ltd.
Over the years a wealth of experience on a diversity of projects has been created and retained in the practice. Although the practice is based in Christchurch, it has serviced projects throughout New Zealand as well as Australia, Pacific Islands, United Kingdom and France. The company has designed and developed, in conjunction with client organisations, innovative projects related to the structural/civil engineering field.

A team effort by all parties involved in a project is the key to maximising the success. Tyndall and Hanham maintains close associations with allied professional consultants, in the fields of Architecture, Building Services, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Land Surveying and Project Management.
The company believes in maintaining technical excellence to keep abreast of current directions in the industry. We have computer based 3-D Structural Design Software (Microstran V8) and custom made Design Spreadsheets, as well as Computer Aided Design CAD (AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, etc) to enable us to carry out most of the complex Structural Engineering Designs.
CAD drawing is used on all projects to provide both efficiency and quality and also provide the capacity to carry out both the complex and larger commissions. Our new large size A1 colour plotter enables us to print drawings our own. High speed internet and internal networking systems allow us to explore new ideas and make instant communication with our clients anywhere in the world. CAD drawings are can be shared with other consultants to maintain accuracy and substantially increase the speed of design.
